I stayed in Sahara Children’s Home for 3 weeks in August 2013 and it was very impressive because Sahara was well-organized, and children were honest and sincere. I had researched more than 20 orphanages in Nepal but some of them were very business orientated and I was sometimes depressed because some children who got used to taking from foreigners begged from me. However, Sahara was totally different, and I was very relieved.
Nirajan Rai who has lived in SCH for 12 years
Warmest Greetings! I am Nirajan Rai from Okhaldhunga District, Sagarmatha Zone, east of Kathmandu. Currently I am studying bachelor’s degree in Adarsha Saula Yubak Higher Secondary School. I am very glad to be here in SCH as I am getting formal education. I have been in SCH since 2006. It has been providing me with good health care facilities, food, shelter and good guidance. When I was in my village it was very hard even to get nutritious food for a day as my mother died when I was born and there was no-one to look after me. It has been providing the same facilities for more than fifteen children including me, so I was really very happy with SCH. I am out of home staying myself separately from this year 2020. I want to give my heartfelt thanks and warm appreciation to all honorable sponsors. May God bless you all.
Ashok Gurung who is living in SCH for 12 years
Hi, I am Ashok Gurung from Shantapur VDC-6; South of Kathmandu. When I was a 6-month old baby my mother died. My father left me with my maternal grandparents, as he was remarrying. My grandparents helped and took care of me, but it was very difficult for them to send me to school. I became Christian of Uddhar New Life Church. When its pastor, Dipak Rai, heard about my situation he shared it with a member of SCH, from where I got a great opportunity to start my journey of study. Now I passed 10+2 in Adarsha Saula Yubak Higher Secondary School. It is totally different than others because children and parents prepare and eat the same food all together. I am very happy and would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the sponsors who have been sending their highly valuable support, love, and care by prayers. It would not possible to continue without all your prayerful support. Thank you very much.
Paul and Sarah Wright, United Mission to Nepal
We have known Jogni, Nirmal and the SCH family for about 20 years now and have visited the SCH home many times. We have always been impressed by the relationships between the boys and their sense of being a family. Nirmal and Jogni strongly encourage the boys to maintain good relationships with their extended families, something we feel is very important. We have always respected the way Jogni and Nirmal use their own resources to support the home and seek no profit or gain for themselves. Their self-less service is humbling.
I (Sarah) had the opportunity to take a 3-day trip with Nirmal and 5 of the boys which included more than 20 hours travel. The boys were consistently kind, full of fun, well-mannered and a joy to spend time with.
